Why does it seem that only Indian shops sell 22k gold jewelry?
It seems like those types of shops sell high karrat gold jewelry and it is hard to find it like that in shops in the malls. Also, they are not as high priced. Why?

Pure gold is 24k, but it is more commonly sold in lower measurements of 22k, 18k, 14k and 10k. Indians are the largest consumers of gold in the world. Gold prices are dropping and it is becoming a poor investment worldwide, however, Indians culturally have a "gold obsession." Here we say that diamonds are a girls best friend, but to an Indian it is gold. India now has a strong control of the world of gold, and perhaps this has something to do with the lower price and higher karats.
