   You should do what feelss right to you. Maybe have an Indian Ceremony, then have a reception and change into an American wedding dress before the reception!

   you could have either 2 wedding ceremonies…and even if you feel that you could only have 1 ceremony..then pick the Indian one, and in corporate little american customs in there..for example; you could have bridesmaids dressed in sari’s..

   Me too! There are so few of us. I’m also an Indian (born and raised in the U.S.) and marrying a caucasian.

   Our wedding isn’t really traditional anything. First of all, my parents don’t support it (you might understand this to at least some extent), so I don’t have a lot of money to work with. His parents are helping out but the majority we’re paying for. I’m going to wear a simple but beautiful lehenga choli (a colorful one) and he’ll wear a suit. We’re not having a bridal party but two attendants (both white) who will be wearing saris. I won’t be wearing much jewelry. I will be doing a mehendi party for our friends the night before the wedding.

   The style will be similar to that of a western wedding. We’re having the ceremony which will be around 30 minutes max. Then a reception afterwards with bhangra (I’m punjabi, hehe) music and food and cake.

   This is how we’re making our wedding personal and incorporating multicultural values. Neither of us are religious, but we’re going to get married by a Buddhist officiant (a friend of mine) because we like the values of Buddhism (although not a religious ceremony).

   Weddings like this are so fun and unique! There are a ton of different things you can do to honor both cultures.
   I’m half Thai and I’m planning on wearing the traditional American white gown for the ceremony, and changing into a blue Thai silk wedding dress for the reception… You could do the same.
   Incorporate some of your favorite Indian foods into the menu, but at the same time, keep some things familiar for your fiance’s family and friends.

   Sit down with your fiance and the two of you can discuss and pick which rituals and traditions from each culture you’d like to incorporate in your own wedding. The result will be something absolutely beautiful!
