Handmade One of a kind jewelry?

I have been making handmade silver, gold, beaded jewelry for 3 months now. I am ready to start selling my merchandise.

What is the best way to go about selling one of a kind pieces? All pieces reflect what I think of at the time of creation. No piece will be the same. Are there benefits to selling one of a kind? Or disadvantages?

I just need advice on selling pieces that will only be created once.

Not interested in selling on Ebay or Etsy! Would like my own internet boutique or other suggested ways of selling.

There are definitely advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that the customer knows that they are getting something special, it adds value to the piece. Knowing that they are the only one to have something like that is a big plus for people. However, you will probably run into people who will ask if you can duplicate something they see. So, just be prepared to field those questions and possibly lose a sale. You may want to offer the ability to do custom orders as well.

Which ever way you go about selling your pieces, the biggest thing is just to promote promote promote! Set up a blog, join social networking groups for crafters, promote off line as well. Good luck!!

I have been selling one of a kind jewelry since 99′ and have found that the internet is flooded with handmade jewelry so I decided to get out there and go to shows, flea markets, the public market and other craft shows and do so much better than the internet.

If you would like to try the internet thing try using http://www.ecrater.com
