Do you think I’m a strange person?
Okay I’m 17, 18 next summer.
On the outside I seem pretty normal though quiet and shy. I dress ordinary though I favour dark colours.
When you get to know me you’ll find that I:
Adore the Victorian era and Victorian Gothic literature
Love Romantic music such as Chopin, Liszt, Schumann - and I also love modern rock music like Placebo and 30 Seconds To Mars
I play piano and guitar and I am learning to speak French and Japanese
I adore Tim Burton movies and anything like gothic fantasy
I’m a writer and something I’m writing involves vampires, set in the 1800s, Anne Rice is my hero
But im NOT a goth - I love kittens, butterflies, pretty jewellery etc
Am I a freak? would most normal people my age think so?
No because I’m exactly the same seriously! 
Haha it’s so weird but I too am quiet and shy and favour dark colours, love the victorian era and gothic. Love classical music bach, beethoven, mozart, strauss, chopin, liszt, vivaldi, I love all them, but it’s only been a year since I really got into it, my main taste lies in rock, popular music, rnb, glam rock classics, haha I have eclectic taste in music. I’ve been trying to learn guitar and I also have a keyboard. I took french and I’m obsessed with Japanese though I can only speak a few phrases. I’m also a fantasy/supernatural writer, albeita completely amateur one 
but Rowling is my hero along with my childhood hero Tim Burton of course 
haha that’s so freaky. I obviously don’t think you’re strange, just cool and a but different from the generic norm which is a good thing in my book 
does anybody live in the salisbury area?

No stranger than anyone else. Alot less strange than most actually. Don’t kid yourself, most people are freaks, myself included.

A damn sight more interesting than the majority of 17 year old’s is the way I would describe you.
Freak is what the boring little minded bigots might use as a jealous put down perhaps.

Course you’re not a freak,you’re a normal person with totally normal interests and obviously very talented given you play two instruments and are learning two languages! Keep it up!

You sound fine to me. What defines "normal"? You have a variety of interests, you appear to be academically adept and looking for challenges. I’m guessing someone is giving you grief over your enjoying Anne Rice and writing about vampires. Don’t let this bother you! You have the right to your interests and you’re not hurting yourself or anyone else with these interests. I would encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing and have fun.

You don’t have to wear black to be goth. You have the mindset of a goth (especially denying to be goth, loving Victorian literature and classical music) and could easily pose as one.
To be truly goth you must listen to the music (not emo, classic rock or indie but bands like Nightwish, Cradle of Filth or Blind Guardian).
